Casting has been announced for the new Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy production of Zelda:  An American Love Story, starring Lauren Kennedy and Tony award winner Jarrod Emick.  Directed by Vincent Marini with original choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and additional choreography by Jennifer Jancuska and Stephanie Klemons, the musical opens regionally in North Carolina October 3 at Flat Rock Playhouse, The State Theatre of North Carolina and will run through October 28. 

In addition to Kennedy as Zelda Fitzgerald and Emick as F. Scott Fitzgerald, the cast will include Nova Bergeron, Barbara Bradshaw, Charles Brady, Scott Cote, Ben Dibble, Preston Dyar, Roderick Kennedy, Lauren Linville, Erin Mosher, Kristin Piro, Elizabeth Racanelli, Robbie Roby, Julius Rubio, Eric Stretch, Jena Lindsay VanElslander, Todd A. Walker, Nikol Wolf and Brenna Yeary.

Frank Wildhorn is the composer of the music for Zelda:  An American Love Story with book and lyrics by Jack Murphy, story by Jack Murphy and Vincent Marini, arrangements by Ron Melrose and orchestrations by Kim Scharnberg.  Set in Asheville, North Carolina, the brand new "jazz age" musical is loosely based on novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, Zelda.  Zelda tells the story of the two lovers’ rise, their fall, and their almost divine desire to rise once more.

Kennedy appeared on Broadway in Monty Python's Spamalot, Sunset Boulevard with Glenn Close, Side Show, and Les Miserables.  Emick won the Tony, Drama Desk and Theatre World Award for his portrayal of slugger Joe Hardy in the Broadway revival of Damn Yankees.  His additional theater credits include Ring Of Fire; The Boy From Oz; The Rocky Horror Show-LiveMiss Saigon; Les Miserables and the West End premiere of The Full Monty.
