For the 8th year in a row, DSI Comedy Theater will be fundraising through laughs. For the past three years DSI has raised money for the Strong Kids Campaign scholarship fund at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA with the theater's mini festival, Y Laugh. From Thursday September 10-Saturday September 12, the proceeds from ticket sales at the theatre will be given to the YMCA. All tickets during Y Laugh cost $5-$10. DSI Comedy Theater is located at 200 N. Greensboro Street, in the Carr Mill Mall between Elmo's and Southern Rail. More on DSI Comedy Theater available online: www.DSIcomedy.com.

Y Laugh begins Thursday, September 10 with the first two rounds of Dual Duel. In each round, two teams of two improvisers compete for the audience's vote. The winners of each round will compete in the semifinals on Saturday September, 12.

Keeping the family in mind, Y Laugh will feature two nights of DSI Comedy Theater's new signature all-ages improv show, Improv SLAM. Improv SLAM is a modern freestyle improv comedy battle. Two crews of comedians feed off the crowd to spin an improv show that has never been seen before -- every time. This is a fast-paced clean comedy show appropriate for all audiences and ages. There will be one battle Friday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. followed by a second battle Saturday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m.

There will also be an interactive comedy show, simply named Y Laugh For Kids, geared specifically towards families with children Ages 10 and under at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday September 12.

Besides the family friendly performances, the mini-festival will include stand-up comedy performances, a live talk show, a performance from DSI's touring team Mister Diplomat, and DSI's Best Show Ever.

"We're truly thankful that organizations like the YMCA exist to help us reach out and help the community by just doing what we do best, making people laugh," explains Executive Producer Zach Ward, "So much comedy. So little time. Y Laugh? Because it helps the kids."
