THEATER J welcomes applications from qualified candidates for the role of Artistic Director. The Artistic Director is responsible for conceiving, developing, and implementing the artistic vision and focus of Theater J, which is hosed within the Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center (EDCJCC) located near Dupont Circle. Working in partnership with the Managing Director and reporting to CEO of EDCJCC, the Artistic Director will execute the Theater’s productions, programs, and activities. The position is open to candidates who are producers, directors and/or playwrights, with an emphasis on candidates with strong programming and producing credentials. They will possess an understanding of Jewish values, culture, and heritage while having the ability to program works that resonate with the wider Washington DC audience, bringing a broad and inclusive artistic perspective to the Theater. Candidates who have not previously held Artistic Director positions will be considered, but strong preference will be given to applicants who have backgrounds in theatrical institutions, including experience in artistic management and/or production.
